Pampers has been a trusted name in diapers for over 50 years. In that time, they have tried out multiple different diaper configurations to try and find what makes the best diaper. Currently, two of the company’s best options for an overnight diaper are their Swaddlers and Cruisers.
However, you are probably wondering, out of these two, which one will work better? Please read on and find out! In this article, you will find out which diaper will come out on top as we compare Pampers Swaddlers vs. Cruisers.
Side-by-Side Comparison - Which Diaper Has the Edge?
1. Elastic
Via Amazon
Whenever you are closing up your baby’s diaper, you want to be sure that the elastic will stretch and move with your child, and will not tear or rip. It should not be so tight that it pinches, but not so loose it allows leaks.
Swaddlers - The elastic band on Swaddlers is designed to stretch and move with your child while remaining extraordinarily tight against leaks.
Cruisers - Since Cruisers are designed with a more active child in mind, the elastic is a bit looser. However, due to his looser design, these diapers were more prone to leaks.
Advantage - Swaddlers
2. Material
Via Amazon
The material the diaper is made with should be soft to the touch and comfortable for your child to wear.
Swaddlers - While Swaddlers are offered for sizes N-6, the material they use is designed with younger baby’s in mind. They are blanket soft and very comfortable.
Cruisers - Cruisers are made from a more conventional diaper material that is somewhat crinkly to the touch. While it still is soft, some children may find that it is uncomfortable.
Advantage - Swaddlers
3. Characters
Via Amazon
Both styles of diapers come emblazoned with various artwork. However, who is on your kid’s diaper will only start to matter once they are a bit older.
Swaddlers -Depending upon the size of the diaper, Swaddlers will have different kinds of artwork on them. The smaller sizes have cute animals, while the larger have Sesame Street Characters.
Cruisers - Pampers Cruisers all have Sesame Street characters on them in many fun and cute designs.
Advantage - Tie
4. Size Availability
Depending on the age of your child, you will have to make a choice between which type of diaper you will use.
Swaddlers - Swaddlers are available for children that fit sizes N, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. This covers children from birth to three years of age.
Cruisers - Cruisers are only available in sizes 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. This range would be applicable for a child aged six months to four years old.
Advantage - Swaddlers
5. Affordability
You should always try to find diapers that fit your budget but are still effective. Swaddlers have more in a pack and are less expensive to purchase than Cruisers. This means that you get more diapers for less money, which is ideal.
Advantage - Swaddlers
6. Closure
The sticky closure strips should not open, even when your child becomes more active.
Swaddlers - Swaddlers closure stays shut well and keeps the diapers closed up tightly. The only way that they will leak is if the diaper cannot hold any more liquid.
Cruisers - The Cruisers closure system allows for lots of movement without pinching or pulling on you child. The adhesive strip is designed with all of this movement in mind as well and will stay shut.
Advantage - Tie
7. Absorbency
Via Amazon
The biggest test of any diaper by far is how absorbent they are since their primary function is to keep your child's clothing clean and dry.
Swaddlers - Swaddlers have excellent absorbency and should not leak even if you can't change your baby right way, like during the night. They also come equipped with a blue indicator to show when a diaper is wet.
Cruisers - Cruisers are also extremely absorbent. However, their significant disadvantage is their looser design, which will allow for leaks once the diaper is already wet.
Advantage - Swaddlers
And The Winner Is….
After carefully looking at both types of Pampers diapers, the clear winner for best diapers is the Swaddlers. They provide the best overall protection against leaks and have the greatest absorbency. The Swaddlers are also a lot cheaper through the time that your child will be in diapers, which is a huge positive for money conscious families.
Cruisers, on the other hand, did not outperform Swaddlers in any of the aspects that I looked at. The best that they could do was to tie the effectiveness of the Swaddlers.
The only reason that I would recommend Cruisers to anyone over Swaddlers is if your child has outgrown the sizes available for Swaddlers. Otherwise, there is no real reason to try out the Cruisers.
